Tingalpa Commercial Complex: Emergency Main Switchboard & Bulk Metering in 7 Days

The problem: a total loss of supply

We were called out to a multi-tenancy commercial complex in Tingalpa after the whole site lost power. On inspection, the main switchboard was in very poor condition – too deteriorated to be safely repaired and re-connected. Every tenant was without power, and the usual lead time for a replacement main switchboard is around 12 weeks.

Our scope

• Made the site safe and assessed the existing main switchboard, metering and consumer mains
• Used our supplier network to source a suitable replacement main switchboard immediately rather than waiting for a custom build
• Installed the new main switchboard with bulk metering for the tenancies
• Coordinated the reconnection and metering so every tenancy could be re-energised
• Tested every circuit and issued the certificate of testing and safety

The outcome

• 7 days from the initial power loss to the new board installed – instead of the typical 12-week lead time
• About 11 weeks of generator hire and fuel avoided for the owner
• Tenants back in business with a compliant, bulk-metered main switchboard
