Project Participants – whether it be a new switchboard install, an upgrade, relocation or mains power upgrade, each switchboard project will require communication and management with some or all of the below. Each are just as important as the next, ensuring the successful execution of the project. Switchboard Solutions understand this, and are not just a team of electricians who turn up on the day of installation, but we are there at each part of the process and assist with each participant.

Many Brisbane homes still have switchboards installed decades ago, long before air conditioning, induction cooktops, solar and EV chargers were common. An old board can overheat, trip constantly or fail to protect your family from electric shock.
If you notice any of these warning signs, book a free inspection and we will tell you honestly whether your board needs an upgrade.
RCBOs and safety switches: an RCBO combines a circuit breaker and safety switch for a single circuit, so a fault on one circuit does not black out the whole house. We recommend RCBO protection on every final circuit when upgrading.
Pricing guidance: every home is different, so we provide a free on-site inspection and a fixed quote before any work starts. The main factors that affect the price are listed here.
Yes. Fuse boxes offer far less protection than modern circuit breakers and RCBOs, and usually have no room for the extra circuits today’s homes need. Upgrading improves safety and makes future work simpler.
Most residential upgrades are completed in a day, with the power off for part of that time. We confirm the expected outage when we quote.
Often, yes. Older boards may not have the space, capacity or protection required. We can check your board and complete the upgrade before or alongside the installation.
An RCD (safety switch) can protect several circuits at once. An RCBO protects a single circuit against both overload and earth leakage, so only that circuit switches off if there is a fault.
Yes. After testing, we issue a Certificate of Testing and Safety for the new switchboard.
The price depends on the size of the board, whether mains or metering need changing, and any solar or EV provisions. Book a free inspection for a fixed quote.
We were renovating our home and had no idea on what would need to be involved with upgrading our switchboard. Jay and the team were so professional and helpful in the whole process, especially when dealing with Energex. In the end, we had a large, new and safe switchboard which will last our family for many years!
